[insert title here] (2024)

  • piano, drumset, and strings

  • ~5’30”

This piece was originally written for the PAS Composition Contest in 2024, with the rules being that the piece had to be for drumset + . For some reason after reading the rules, I couldn't shake the idea of a jazz combo, but with strings instead of horns.

I could make up some story about how this piece represents the fall of the Roman Empire, or about how every seventh note adds up to create some number equaling the exact dimensions and price of a loaf of bread during that time, but really this was a stream of conciousness writing process. I had a few ideas about how to start it, but most everything else was just following the music, with "jazz combo strings" in the back of my mind.

NOTE: The drumset + electronics version contains only downloads of the drumset solo part, and click track and audio WAV files.
